ARRIVA driver forces mum with 4yr old to walk 1.5 miles in freezing conditions

I am furious! My wife called me this afternoon in tears having been verbally abused and treated like dirt by an ARRIVA bus driver in Macclesfield. All this happened in front of a bus full of elderley passengers.

He refused her passage because she had a £5 note to pay for a £2.10 fare. Consequently she had no choice but to walk 1.5 miles home in freezing rain with my 4 year old daughter. My wife suffers terrible Raynards Syndrome so was in considerable pain by the time she arrived home.

The full story

This morning at Macclesfield bus station a group of elderly pensioners, my wife and 4 year old daughter waiting in vain for the Bowers bus to Buxton, which never arrived, we assume, due to adverse conditions. They elected to wait for the Number 1 ARRIVA bus instead, which arrived a couple of minutes after the Buxton bus was due to leave.

The Driver A nonchalantly glanced at the passengers stating "I'm not going", shook his head, bearly making eye contact with a sole.

From 12:25 until 12:55 the passengers waited further. Having watched a Driver B enter the original Number 1, change number to Number 14 and dissapear, Driver A finally appeared to drive a Number 1 bus stating he was "only driving the bus out of the goodness of his heart".

Having already accepted fares of a number of passengers my wife presented her £5 note for her £2.10 fare. The Driver A abruptly said he had no change and refused point blank to accept the money. Considering he had already had several cash paying customers travelling to the same location, it beggars belief that this was true.

The driver continued to fire several disrespectful challenges at my wife, reducing her to tears, in front of a child. By this time several passengers came and offered my wife the money to pay for the journey.

When she quite rightly demanded the bus drivers number and name, he refused, stating these details were on the bus tickets. Of course, my wife could not get this information.

However, due to the bullying and rude nature of the driver, my wife was by now so upset and insulted that she back down off the bus and it left.

What have I done?

This afternoon I phoned ARRIVA but quite frankly I don't anticipate much back apart from a limp apology letter. The fact is the damage has been done and ARRIVA bus drivers are abusive, unreasonable and irresponsible.

Strong year for Drupal - 2011 Open Source CMS Market Share Report

Just received my copy of the 4th annual Water & Stone report. As with all stats, they can be interpretted so may ways. Rather than introduce any bias, I've shared the report.

"This report assesses 20 Open Source Content Management Systems on a variety of metrics related to Rate of Adoption and Brand Strength.The analysis looks at a broad range of indicators -- both direct and indirect -- with the goal of synthesizing trends and patterns that define the market leaders."

Based on 2,500 respondents. Wordpress, Joomla! and Drupal are still the dominant leaders, some great promise reported with Concrete5.

Klout score doesn't matter, think smarter!

Klout scores are all very well, but what do they actually mean? The truth is very little is known about how the score is derived. My Klout score seems to being going down all the time but in the real world I consider my Twitter presence to be growing in vlaue.

Whilst algorithms can give some measure of your Twitter following, you should be aware of who they are and where.

The who

Focus on attracting a few key players in your field than 100's of hangers on. Think quality, don't tweet too often, and always consider as you gain influencers, what they think of your posts.

It is better to have a smaller number of followers attracted to an account who are actively engaged, interested in your tweets, read them, RT them, and engage with you. Narrowing your tweets down to a subject, maybe running several accounts for different personas or subjects will pay dividends. By keeping to a topic, you will keep followers engaged and loyal.

By talking on a narrow subject you are increasing your chances of being listed by people on Twitter. This can be big factor in achieving a bigger audience, possibly more value that followership.

The where

Knowing the location of the bulk of your followers has relevancy to when you post messages. You can see most of mine are in the UK / USA. This poses a challenge since they are spread over wide time zones. Consider your audience, maybe use a tool like Hootsuite.com to schedule Tweets to reach your followers overseas when you are asleep. Some people tweet the same message twice, once for their own time and a second for overseas. This can work well.

Police struggle to contain #occupymacc employing strong tactics

The situation has deteriorated at #OccupyMacc which has attracted a strong following. Mounted Police and evidence gathering officers have been spotted. Parents are attempting to remove the protesters from the dining room table in time for tea. Several innocent meerkats and a donkey were also draw into the unrest. A spokesman from #OccupyMacc stated "We want to stay here until past our bedtimes!"

Hoax image of #occupyWallStreet goes viral on Facebook

Here is an interesting example of how you must not believe everything you see on social media. The image looks pretty convincing, but as soon I saw it I started thinking suspiciously - "Where did they get such a high vantage point?" .... and the answer is Google Maps.

The story has been shared on Facebook over 22000 times, yet it is a hoax. See the image source on Google Maps here.

Omnigraffle is without doubt one of the best planning and visualisation tools available. I use if for wire framing software projects, including Drupal. It enables even novice users to rapidly produce impressive imagery to communicate complex concepts to clients and helps avoid mis-interpretation.

I recently discovered on Graffletopia, the community driven library of stencils for Omnigraffle, that there are some Drupal 7 specific stencils. These include Drupal 7 components, Drupal Commerce and Drupal Search.

Less than a month ago I identified a significant opportunity to improve Drupal's growth. Many users struggle with the concept of patches and would readily fix bugs, provide improvements, contribute more if they understood how.

Rather than write a lengthy blog post I thought it more beneficial to engage the power of the Drupal community. Angie Byron for years has been a Drupal Documentation super start, Jeff Robins co-founded Lullabot who specialise in Drupal Training. All I did was send a humble Tweet, the result was far greater than I had anticipated.

In response to my initial suggestion, Lullabot have created a whole new Free Community Drupal Videos section of Drupalize.me in response to my suggestion. Kicking off with two tutorials addressing creating and applying patches, Lullabot are welcoming further suggestions from Drupalistas with ideas which help foster a better Drupal.

From Vienna to Manchester - fostering the community spirit of Drupal

Sebastian Siemssen is one of the maintainers of Jake Strawn's hugely popular Omega Theme. I met both of them at DrupalCon London and quickly realised these guys were forging ahead with some innovative responsive design approaches for Drupal.

Fast forward a few weeks and Sebastien is now at Livelink's offices working alongside our team advising on a major effort to streamline our theming process and implementation of responsive design.

For me this was a perfect opportunity to encourage a talented student who is valuable contributor to the Drupal project. Having flown him over from Vienna we've shown him a good time in Manchester. From Cloud 23 Bar to seeing Manchester United play Basle in the Champions League he's seen the best of Manchester.

Drupal agency NodeOne takes stand against EPiServer demands to cease and desist

With the enviable growth of Drupal into enterprise, education, government comes less desirable consequences. Swedish Drupal agency NodeOne have been served a cease and desist notification from EPiServer, a proprietary CMS, to un-publish their comparison between Drupal and other CMSs.

In September NodeOne published the article comparing Drupal against several proprietary products (EPiServer, SiteVision, Sitecore, Polopoly and Escenic) concluding that Drupal was best. The ran a banner advertising campaign to draw attention to the article, which naturally came up on EPiServers radar.

Having saught legal advice NodeOne have taken a stand and refused to remove the article.

Google have released some interesting stats around Google+, their latest venture into social media. And this time they seem to have got it right. This week Google+ went into public beta so expect adoption to accelerate.

Whilst there was an initial surge of activity on the platform, things have expectedly cooled down. Indeed from what I can see most Drupalists are still hanging out back on Twitter. What Google+ desperately needs is highly active, engaged users.

Klout Google Chrome Extension

If you take Twitter seriously, evaluating who you follow matters. Klout score is a good rule of thumb, but typically you have to visit the site to establish this.

Google Chrome users can enhance their experience of Twitter.com with a Klout Chrome Extension. It presents the Klout score against all users in your stream along with a link to their Klout profile.

I was interested to discover that some weeks ago Twitter acquired BackType. It appears they have been working away to create a new reporting platform for marketing professionals.

"Twitter Web Analytics will be rolled out this week to a small pilot group of partners, and will be made available to all website owners within the next few weeks. We’re also committed to releasing a Twitter Web Analytics API for developers interested in incorporating Twitter data in their products."

Twitter Lists - an alternative to following people - tip

The trouble with following more than 300 people who tweet reasonably often is you start missing really important posts. Twitter lists offer a way to watch groups of people without actually following.

By only following people you really need to keep a daily watch on, adding everyone else in lists (and unfollowing them), you are less likely to miss vital tweets.

Equally a list could contain a select few people and serve the same purpose.

Always remember that people cannot direct message you unless you are following them.

Yesterday Acquia announced that "Drupal-Acquia together have been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the Visionaries quadrant of both the 2011 Magic Quadrant for Externally Facing Social Software and the Magic Quadrant for Social Software in the Workplace.". This raises Drupal's visibility and acceptance particularly amongst the top 10,000 global businesses.

This recognition has not happened without substantial effort on Acquia's part. Bryan House of Acquia spends considerable time ensuring that analyst firms such as Gartner, Forrester Research and CMS Watch are fully aware of Drupal. Large corporations turn to analysts firms for opinion and risk analysis when considering adopting platforms on large projects.

Manchester Drupal Lunch Up - Who's in?

So it seems I am not alone in finding evenings, paricularly Fridays impossible to handle for the North West Drupal user group. Mark Hope of accessadvertising.co.uk has the same issues.

What if I were to propose a shorter lunch break style casual Drupal meet up in central Manchester? Would anyone be interested? We could elect a cafe and just socialise, talk Drupal and share knowledge, advice.

Responsive web design and Drupal

What is a responsive design?

As one of the leading innovators in responsive design Ethan Marcotte explains it is composed of three distinct parts.

A flexible grid.
Flexible images. Or more specifically, images that work in a flexible context (whether fluid themselves, or perhaps controlled via overflow).
Media queries. The final layer of a responsive design, media queries optimize the design for different viewing contexts, and spot-fix bugs that occur at different resolution ranges.

OK, so what is responsive design?

The best way to quickly appreciate what is responsive web design is to visit a few really good examples. Start with a large browser window and slowly resize right down. Notice how the follwoing sites reposition, remove or repurpose the layout to cope with the smaller view port.

To fully understand why we have arrived at adaptive and responsive approaches I strongly recommend listening to Lullabot's podcast "Who is Jeffrey Zeldman?". It provides some historical perspective about web standards, how we thought 960 grid was the perfect solution and subsequently that it emerged it was not.

Do responsive with Drupal

Jake Strawn and Sebastian Siemssen have delivered Omega 3, a responsive mobile first theming system for Drupal. This enables Drupal themers to create web sites which actively change based upon the screen size of the device used in order to provide an optimised interface and images at appropriate size for the available bandwidth.

Warning: Fake Twitter emails - "Your Account has been suspended"

Just received an email reporting that my main @pdjohnson account had been suspended due to 'aggressive following and tweeting'. Having spent over 2 years carefully building my following I was of course initially gutted. Reading the message on my iPhone it seemed fairly convincing, if on reflection the English was not quite perfect. However, upon logging in to Twitter all seems to be fine. This email whilst appearing to be from support@twitter.com was actually a fake.

There was one glaring give away that it was an unscrupulous email.

The message looked like this

Subject: "Your account has been suspended"

Your twitter account pdjohnson@gmail.com has been suspended for a violation of our Terms of Service

Your account was suspended for aggressive following and tweeting

Following large numbers of users and tweeting too much in an attempt to attract attention to your own account can be annoying

to other users and is a violation of the Twitter Rules http://twitter.com/rules

Suspension of your account will be effective at anytime

To avoid permanent suspension just complete our twitter free offers below

As each day passes I come closer to cancelling my Facebook account. This one might just tip me over the edge. I am certainly removing it from my iPhone.

Try visiting https://www.facebook.com/friends/edit/?sk=phonebook as see what information you have unwittingly given Facebook. OK, this was not public, but are you happy that they have this data?

On the right hand side there appears to be a facility to request this data be removed.

Tottenham looter not looking so smug now - Twitpic haul man arrested

Today the Metropolitan Police annouced via @metploiceuk that the looter who uploaded photos to of his haul during the riots to Twitter had been arrested for violent disorder and theft.

The image uploaded went viral, it was only a matter of time before Police apprehended him.

What can we all learn from this?

OK, so this is an extreme case, but we should all be aware that everything we say and upload to the internet is traceable and you are legally accountable for what you say. Most importantly everything is tracable.

Consider what you upload or say mindful that it could impact current and future employment prospects. As an employer, the first thing I do for all applicants is research their digital activity. With systems like Qwerly, it is so easy to quickly identify.

Preparing for another troubled Manchester evening?

Many businesses are boarding up premises from last nights looting in Manchester. Meanwhile others, most notably the City Store, are boarding up in prrepartion for another night of trouble.

With 3 satellite TV news crews floating aroubd Manchester including ITV Granada. one can't help but think there's something going to happen.

In contrast to yesterday, a brief look on Twitter reveals no public planning. Maybe they have moved to another channel. Let's hope not.

I hear nrws from a security guard of a swelling of police nunbers. Maybe tonight will be quiet, it's raining too. For once that's best.

As the volume of messages posted on social networks explodes people are becoming more selective about who they connect with. It is important that your message reaches its intended audience and that you stick to subjects they are engaged with. I have several personas and talk about Social Media, Drupal, Open Source, Manchester digital, ecommerce - the audiences don't always cross over. This represents a challenge when using Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn.

What's wrong with Twitter?

I am a massive Twitter user, one aspect I always wrestle with is segmenting my messages so I don't lose followers by hitting them with irrelevant messages. The best way I have to avoid this on Twitter is to have multiple accounts which act as personas. This is unsatisfactory since it requires time consuming sign ups and complex management issues.

Google+ Circles is the solution!

Google have taken the best of all social media and wrapped it up into Google+. Circles allows you to segment people you follow into interest groups. This provides two valuable features.

Filtering incoming messages by circle

By placing individuals in circles by interest or category you are able to view posts just within that circle. This is rather similar to Twitter lists. However there appears to be no limit to the number of circles you can generate which cannot be said of Twitter lists.

Share with specific circles

The ability to share a post just to certain circles is a killer feature. It provides the facility to achieve segmentation and relevance. You are more likely to grow and retain a larger following if you employ this tactic.

On all networks ensure your profile is complete, reflects your brand appropriately and contains links to your web presence.

LinkedIn

Businesses should be more actively seeking to connect on LinkedIn with potential partners and prospects. They should be engaging with people on the LinkedIn groups and posting more regular updates to their profile.

Facebook

As the UK's second most visited web site, every business should have an active presence on Facebook. Consider using the questions & answers tools, build a Facebook Page which can be used as an outbound marketing tool and relationship building exercise.

Twitter

Use Twitter as an outbound marketing tool and start to engage with your audience more

Bring the conversation back to your website with a link
Thank people for retweeting
Answer questions
Ask questions for which the answer is on your web site as a blog post
Do use #FollowFriday to reach new followers
Reach out to people, humanise your business by speaking directly and publicy

Advertising

Consider adding Facebook and LinkedIn advertising to the marketing mix. Since both Facebook and LinkedIn advertsing can be targetted using location and demographic information it offers opportunities which Google Adwords lacks.

Typically Facebook users are not in the buying cycle but you can approach people asking to be 'liked'. This opens up a marketing channel so you can drive traffic towards your web site or Facebook page.

Warning - avoid Mini Sticky Splatter - damages everything it touches

I bought a Mini Sticky Splatter black spider from The Science Museum, London (Supplied by Tobar.co.uk).

My daughter was playing with it for a short while and became covered in nasty black tar like deposits which stuck to her clothes and hands.

Upon attempting to remove with soap and water the horrid material stuck to the sink like bitumen. Virtually impossible to remove. Only with harsh tearful hand washing were my duaghters hands and face cleansed. Subsequently I spent 1 hour cleaning the messy slick from sink with cif cream and a scouring pad. Her clothes are possibly ruined. How can a product like this possibly be safe for sale to children?

I have emailed the Science Museum and Tobar to inform them of the situation.

They have used social media to spread the word on YouTube, but on 28th June 2011 Greenpeace launched a counter campaign with a daring stunt in London. It quickly spread around Twitter, Youtube and into traditional media.

The bright people at Greenpeace have launched a counter campaign using the same branding against VW's emmisions stance. This is pure genius

A truly remarkable museum full of dead stuff - The Natural History Museum

It's to be expected, a lot changes in 32 years between visits, but I was profoundly taken with a recent visit to The Natural History Museum. The dinosaurs were a massive hit with my 3 year old daughter, particularly the animatrix T-Rex, absolutely spell bound.

What I hadn't expected, and nearly missed was The Darwin Centre, a daring architectural gem encapsulated within the museum looking like a high tech egg. Within this imposing multi-storey structure was a fascinating collection of priceless artefacts and a huge library of life on earth. Whatever you do, don't miss this!

And if that wasn't enough, the humble and very unexpected gardens were a piece of welcome tranquility.

I've been to a lot of museums, this one is outstanding, multi-faceted and should be celebrated. The kind of place that makes you very proud to be British.

Google to stop supporting IE7, Safari 3, Firefox 3.5

I am pleased to report that from August 1st 2011 Google will no longer support IE7, Safari 3, Firefox 3.5 on their platform. These moves are significant because it puts further pressure on organisations stuck on older browsers to upgrade.

One of the main reasons why the public sector and some businesses persist with older browsers is their proprietary software does not work on newer browsers. They are often tied in by vendor licensing or the costs of migrating code prevents innovation. At some stage this has to change, the announcement by Google adds welcome weight to the debate.

I have always experienced good SEO performance when using Drupal. It's support for clean / search engine friendly urls, xml sitemaps, ping, page title, meta tags (nodewords), global redirect, google analytics are all well established must have tools in an SEO's kit. There are however several modules which some of you may have missed.

Content Analysis

This module performs content evaluation per node using Alchemy and Scribe APIs. It reports and recommends improvements which can be made to keyword densities, page title and body content, readability and W3C compliance. Whilst all of these are possible with external tools I really like the fact that it is integral to the site publishing workflow.

Improving product creation workflow in Drupal Commerce

Drupal Commerce represents a quantum shift in how to approach web shops on the platform. One aspect which has changed is the way products are generated. They exist as product entities which are related to a content types via a node reference. Lost you already? Well I think my clients would be lost at least.

The implication is that in order to publish a product you need to fill in 2 forms, ouch! I can see why it has been done this way, abstracting products from nodes allows us to create bundles and products which are only available when bought together. The unintended consequence is that my customers might get confused / daunted / make mistakes.

Fortunately Nylin has contributed "Commerce Product Display Manager" module which streamlines the process of product creation. It allows users to visit

Tweeting once is a waste - reaching your audience

The chances of a Tweet being missed is high. As Twitter goes mainstream its inevitable people will follow more people. You can never be sure when your audience is online. If you appeal to a global audience this becomes particularly relevant.

The solution is to repeat your tweets 3 times distributing timings through the day. The times will vary depending on the habits and global distribution of your audience.

A great way to do this is using scheduled tweets in Hootsuite or Tweetdeck.

@guykawasaki uses this technique to great effect, by tweeting every 8 hours he reaches 3 global audiences without annoying people with repeated tweets because they are in bed.

My Facebook account has been hacked! What should I do now?

Facebook has revolutionised communication. The benefits have also introduced new risks. Recently I noticed my Facebook account featuring undesirable posts which I most certainly did not create. The nature of the posts related to sex sites and stalking software. There are only 3 ways in which I expect a Facebook account could be compromised.

A person with access to your computer or smart phone changes your password or simply posts on your behalf.
- Do not stay signed in at work or in public spaces
- Assign a password to your smart phone
Apps which you have granted access to your Facebook account are not trust worthy and abuse their access
- Revoke access to any App you are not totally sure about
- Revoke all App access if you are not sure
Software cracks have been run against your login to identify your weak password
- Reset your password

How secure is your password?

So you think your password is secure? I expect it could be hacked in minutes, hours or days by any desktop PC! Read my article on how to create a secure password and discover how long cracker software would take to break into your accounts.

Do not use the same password twice

Never use the same password for multiple networks, email addresses, banks. If you do, a hacker will follow a trail and access all manner of private information.

As Sony owns up to a major hack join the long list of major corporations to announce security breeches, isn't it about time web sites decided to stop using easy to acquire credentials like mothers maiden name and birthday as challenges / password reminders? With so many recent hacks, few people can be sure their private data is not in the public domain. As a Play.com customer, I am sure my data is no longer private. Whilst devices like Barclays PINSenty are frustrating to use, they are far more secure than using easily hacked strings, memorable places and dates.

Seeking to avoid the madding crowds of the Easter Lake District I headed for the tranquil bliss of Buttermere. On Sunday the lake was like a mill pond. Walking along the lake shores you are surrounded by some of the most outstanding scenery I've seen, anywhere. Relatively unspoilt by commercialism, the valley retains everything which people first explored the Lake District for. Solitude, stunning unspoilt landscapes and clean air free from traffic noise. My idea of heaven.

Make shift tent for kids

Inspired by Ray Mears, ive taken some rope and tied it to the tree, attached it to a garden cane and then tensioned the remaining length as a guy rope at an angle. Next i attached a second guy and tensioned.

The cover is a canvas 3m x 2m from an army surplus store with eylets in, peg tight and enjoy!

Maybe make paper flags and staple on pole or guy ropes as an extra activity.

Chester Zoo - how not to conduct web visitor surveys

This invasive web survey is slap bang in the middle of the buying process and asks questions of the very item it immediately blocks from view. Whilst polling opinion is a valuable source of customer feedback, web site owners should never forget that gathering this information is secondary to the buying process. The customer should have time to be reassured their purchase was successful before hitting them in the face with a dialogue.

An alternative is to fire an email linking to a web survey immediately the order is complete. This will stay in the customers in box, reminding them to fill the survey. The example above could not be adequately filled in because it asks questions of the confirmation email which could not have arrived by the time the form is presented. Think harder Chester Zoo.

Chester Zoo has been transformed in recent years, many more improvements over the winter too. Several new exhibits including wild dogs and much better meerkats enclosure. Baby elephant too!

This trip we booked online which saved queues on arrival, just scanned the print out and go. Yes, print out! Whilst there is no mention on the web site, you do need a printer in order to pre book online. This caused a bit of stress as we don't have one. Apart from that, a great service and one of the best days out in Cheshire.

£750 Raised for Red Cross New Zealand Earthquake Fund - Massive thanks to everyone!

A couple of weeks have passed, and after our initial donation from our generous sponsors we have just added another £120 after a very successful cake sale at St Michaels church in Macclesfield playgroup last Thursday. So in total we've managed to attract £750 of support, way beyond our wildest expectations.

The run was held in Warrington, grandparent to the rescue to look after Amy, whilst Kathryn and I had a very enjoyable 6.3 mile (OK it was nearly 7 but don't tell Kathy!) in perfect cool sunny conditions.

We've posted regular news on the Rise Up Christchurch Facebook Group which clearly had an uplifting impact on a lot of people over there. We received well wishes from Kiwis around the globe. So not only did we raise a lot of money but lifted spirits too.

So thanks once again, wonderful friends, colleagues and people we didn't even know from far flung places around the globe. You are great!

50 Major brands data hacked, are you next? What should marketers do?

Today Mashable report that Epsilon have been hacked resulting in over 50 major US brands having client data compromised. In recent weeks Play.com emailed customers informing them that the security of customer names and email address had been breeched whilst stored on a third party system (Silverpop). BBC and The Guardian both reported on this story and Play.com handled the breach well by reporting it quickly to customers and advising them of the risks of phishing.

With the increased sophistication of email marketing software most companies rely upon third party partners to deliver solutions, each one is under attack from hackers, no-one is safe.

What should marketers do?

Don't assume you are safe, challenge all your third party vendors for a security audit. Marketers should be aware of the likelihood that data will be compromised and plan for this eventuality, have an emergency communication strategy in place. This should include email, social media and announcements on web sites. With social media prevalent in most peoples lives bad news travels fast. Consider employing social media monitoring tools like Radian6, these may give you early warnings of a breech. Smaller companies might consider Raven Tools or Google Alerts (less so).

These days you usually need a bank loan to visit a garden centre cafe. I was pleasantly surprised to discover a novel approach at a local nursery just north of Macclesfield.

Unmanned, you make the brews, you set the prices, leave the dishes. Help yourself to milk in the fridge. Unpretentious and a welcome break when you have a toddler in tow. Brilliant idea.

Drupal Networking Lunch, London

The last official Drupal event I managed to attend was DrupalCon Barcelona, thanks to the Icelandic volcano I missed San Fransisco.

My company recently joined the Drupal Association which has opened a range of opportunities to build better business relationships with Drupal houses.

Today I attended the Drupal Networking Luncheon which proved an invaluable opportunity to meet many forward thinking organisations and individuals in London.

Without Drupal Association Membership I would have been unaware of this event. The strength of Drupal is not code but it's community, I suggest you get involved and head along to http://association.drupal.org/ there are events worldwide no matter what your specialism is.

Double decker bus top destroyed in Macclesfield bridge strike

Just driven past the railway station in Macclesfield. Witnessed the aftermath of a double decker bus having driven underneath what is a very low railway bridge. The whole wreckage of the top deck lays underneath the bridge and bus on opposite side.

4 police cars are at the scene, I saw no evidence of ambulances, hope to god no one was hurt.

GPS Visualiser - charting data geospatially <-- Awesome

This web site saved me a heap of time today. I needed to visualise web site turnover based on location for a client. Having merged postcode regions from Jibble Postcode data and web sales data I simply used this form to provide my data. The rest wast child's play.
